The reality of a modern children’s hospice couldn’t be further removed from the stark and clinical image that many people have.
Whilst a hospice exists to provide palliative care, staff are understanding, caring and medical experts in their field. A place for emotional comfort that usually provides support for the whole family and is both patient and compassionate. And respite care provides a place for encouragement, incredible support and attention to detail, a place for living and enjoying practical ideas. Services for siblings offer a break for brothers and sisters of life-limited children, helping them to relax and unwind, in addition to explaining the harsh reality of their situation. And parents can have time together and just be a mum and dad again, without having to worry about being carer for a few days, relaxing with the knowledge that their child is in a safe environment.
